Chelsea to sell star after World Cup

Chelsea to sell star after World Cup

Chelsea’s patience with one of their key players appears to have run out. The club is now reportedly open to selling the star following the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to information from the British newspaper The Telegraph, Chelsea’s management has grown frustrated with the inconsistent performances of their Moroccan winger, Hakim Ziyech. The club has decided to part ways with him and will seek a transfer in the upcoming summer window.

Ziyech, who joined Chelsea from Ajax in the summer of 2020 for a fee of 40 million euros, has struggled to secure a consistent starting role. His time at Stamford Bridge has been marked by fluctuating form and a failure to fully adapt to the demands of the Premier League under multiple managers.

The final straw seems to have been the recent period. Despite being given opportunities, the 30-year-old has not delivered the decisive contributions expected of him. Club officials believe his sale will free up significant space on the wage bill and within the squad structure.

Chelsea’s plan is clear: allow Ziyech to represent Morocco at the 2026 World Cup, and then facilitate his departure. The club is not expected to set a prohibitive asking price, aiming instead for a reasonable deal that suits all parties.

This decision marks the likely end of Ziyech’s Chelsea chapter, which promised much but ultimately failed to live up to expectations on a consistent basis. All eyes will now be on his performances in North America in 2026 before the next move in his club career.
