Hansi Flick says Pedri injury update is not good news

Pedri, wearing a Barcelona kit, shows concern with his hands on his head during a tense moment in a recent match.

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick admitted it was “not good news” after Pedri was forced off with an injury during his side’s match against Slavia Prague.

The midfielder went down during the game and was unable to continue, with Flick and his staff choosing to replace him as Barça reshuffled in midfield.

Speaking after the match, Flick did not hide his concern when asked about Pedri’s condition. “It’s not good news,” the Barcelona coach said, offering a blunt assessment as the club waits to learn the full extent of the problem.

Flick added that the situation would become clearer once further checks are completed, with Barcelona set to assess the injury in the coming hours.

Losing Pedri would be a major blow for Flick, who has leaned on the Spain international’s control and tempo in the middle of the pitch, particularly in big European nights.

For now, Barcelona will monitor his recovery and hope the diagnosis is more positive than the immediate signs from the Slavia Prague match suggested.
