Liam Rosenior confirms talks with Cole Palmer over exit talk

Liam Rosenior has confirmed he has spoken to Cole Palmer amid suggestions the Chelsea star could look to leave the club, with the midfielder also dealing with “homesickness” and injury issues.

The former Hull City boss, now in charge at Strasbourg, was asked about Palmer’s situation after reports linked the England international with an early exit from Stamford Bridge. Rosenior said he has checked in with Palmer directly and insisted the player remains focused despite the noise around him.

“Every player has problems,” Rosenior said, as he played down the talk of a move and pointed to the personal and physical challenges players can face during a long season.

Palmer has been one of Chelsea’s standout performers and his form has made him a key figure for club and country. However, the latest conversation around his future has been fuelled by claims of homesickness as well as concerns over his fitness.

Rosenior underlined that such issues are not unusual at the top level, adding that there is often more going on behind the scenes than supporters realise. He also made it clear that he would always be available to support players, particularly those trying to manage pressure away from the pitch as well as on it.

While the reports have prompted fresh debate over Palmer’s long-term future, Rosenior’s comments suggest the matter has been addressed privately, with the coach keen to keep the focus on football rather than speculation.
