Over 80 swimmers took on the cold waters of Lake Aguelmam Azegza, in the province of Khénifra, in a sporting event that brought together enthusiasts of open-water swimming in an exceptional natural setting.
Held in challenging conditions due to the low temperature of the lake, the outing saw participants test their endurance over different distances, with safety and organisation put in place to ensure the activity ran smoothly.
The gathering also highlighted the appeal of Aguelmam Azegza, a well-known lake in the Middle Atlas region, and underlined the growing interest in outdoor sports that combine physical effort with nature.
Beyond the sporting challenge, the event carried a clear message: promoting open-water swimming and encouraging people to practise sport in natural spaces, while drawing attention to the region’s environmental and tourism potential.
