Unai Emery has urged Liverpool to make a firm decision on Harvey Elliott’s future, warning that the teenager’s loan situation at Aston Villa is becoming “damaging” as the new season approaches.
Elliott, who remains a Liverpool player, spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Villa after joining the Reds from Fulham. The midfielder’s move was intended to provide regular senior minutes, but his role at Villa became uncertain as the season went on, leaving his development in what Emery described as “limbo”.

“It is damaging when a young player is not clear,” Emery said, calling on Liverpool to resolve the situation quickly. He stressed that Elliott needs stability, either by being kept around the first-team picture at Liverpool or by being placed somewhere he can play consistently.
