Tarek El Taieb said Morocco were the target of a “plot” during their run at the Africa Cup of Nations, insisting the team did not benefit from any behind-the-scenes influence.
Speaking about the controversy that followed Morocco’s exit, the former Libya international rejected claims of “lobbying” and pushed back against suggestions that decisions were tilted in their favour. El Taieb said the reality was the opposite, arguing that Morocco were harmed rather than helped.
El Taieb also addressed the talk around what many described as “koulassa” — a term used locally to suggest backroom pressure or arrangements — and stressed that this narrative was not true in Morocco’s case.
According to El Taieb, the facts showed Morocco faced unfair circumstances, and he maintained that the accusations aimed at the team did not match what happened on the ground.
