Arteta says Arsenal nine-point lead means nothing

Mikel Arteta gesturing passionately on the sidelines during an Arsenal match, wearing a black coat, showcasing intense focus and determination.

Mikel Arteta insisted Arsenal’s commanding position at the top of the Premier League counts for “nothing”, despite his side opening up a nine-point lead as they move closer to the title.

The Gunners have put themselves in control of the race after another important result, giving them daylight over their closest challengers. But Arteta refused to look too far ahead and warned that the season is far from finished.

“It means nothing,” Arteta said when asked about the gap. He made it clear that his players will not be distracted by the table and that the focus remains on the next match, not on what could happen in weeks to come.

Arteta also stressed that Arsenal have not achieved their main goal yet, pointing to the standards required to win a Premier League title. He underlined the need to keep improving and to keep the same edge as the pressure grows.

Arsenal’s form has strengthened their grip on first place, but Arteta’s message was that there is no room for comfort. With matches still to play, he wants his squad to treat every game like a final and to stay locked in until the job is done.

The Arsenal boss has repeatedly tried to keep expectations under control, and he struck the same note again, saying a lead at this stage does not guarantee anything. For Arteta, only the final outcome will matter.
