Liam Rosenior has been accused of “putting on an act” after being linked with the Chelsea job, with comparisons made to former Blues boss Graham Potter.
The former Hull City head coach has been mentioned as a possible option for Chelsea as the club continue to weigh up their next steps, but the talk around Rosenior has not convinced everyone.
Jamie Carragher questioned the way Rosenior is being presented amid the links, suggesting it “doesn’t look right” and arguing it feels like an “act” when the 39-year-old is discussed in the same bracket as managers with a longer track record at the top level.
Wayne Rooney also weighed in on the debate, as Rosenior’s coaching reputation and style have been put under the microscope while Chelsea are repeatedly connected with new names.
The comments come as Chelsea face renewed scrutiny over their managerial direction, with Potter’s spell at Stamford Bridge still fresh in the memory when the club is considering profiles that fit a modern, progressive mould.
Rosenior, who has built a growing reputation in coaching circles, remains a talking point as the Premier League giants continue to be linked with potential candidates.
