Folarin Balogun is first American to score twice in UCL KO match

Folarin Balogun celebrates after scoring twice in a UEFA Champions League knockout match, wearing AS Monaco's red and white kit.

Folarin Balogun made Champions League history on Wednesday night, becoming the first American to score twice in a knockout-stage match as Monaco faced Paris Saint-Germain.

The USMNT forward gave Monaco an early lift with a composed finish, striking first to set the tone in front of a charged home crowd. PSG responded before the break, but Balogun was not done.

After the restart, he found the net again to complete his brace, turning the tie into a real contest and putting his name into the competition’s record books.

Despite Balogun’s two goals, PSG had enough in the tank to come back and secure the result against Monaco, ensuring the French giants stayed on course in Europe.

Balogun’s performance was the standout moment of the night, not only for Monaco but for American football, as no player from the United States had previously scored twice in a Champions League knockout match.
