AFCON last 16 team of the round includes three Egyptians

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed its AFCON last 16 team of the round, following the completion of the Round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The selected XI included three Egypt players, along with one representative from Morocco, after strong individual performances in the knockout stage.

In goal, CAF chose Ronwen Williams (South Africa). The back line featured Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Omar Kamal (Egypt), Gideon Mensah (Ghana) and Teboho Mokoena (South Africa).

Midfield places went to Mostafa Mohamed (Egypt), Franck Kessié (Ivory Coast) and Mohamed Elneny (Egypt), as CAF rewarded their influence during the Round of 16 matches.

Up front, the line consisted of Ademola Lookman (Nigeria), Gelson Dala (Angola) and Emilio Nsue (Equatorial Guinea).

The announcement came as CAF continued to highlight the standout names of the tournament’s knockout rounds, with Egypt’s trio earning recognition despite the pressure and intensity of the last-16 stage.
