The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has officially taken its refereeing complaint to FIFA, saying the issue has now become a matter of credibility.

In a statement, the FAF confirmed it has contacted FIFA to report what it described as serious refereeing problems that have affected Algerian football, stressing that the situation “touches on credibility.”

The federation said the step comes after repeated incidents, and that it is seeking a clear intervention from world football’s governing body to protect the integrity of competitions.

Algeria’s move is the latest development in an ongoing refereeing crisis, with the FAF insisting it will follow the case through official channels until it gets guarantees that similar situations will not be repeated.

The statement also underlined that the federation’s position is based on documented elements and that it wants the same standards applied to everyone, without exceptions.

By escalating the matter to FIFA, the FAF has effectively raised the dispute beyond the local level, warning that confidence in match officiating is at stake.
