Andy Robertson has admitted he does not yet know what the next chapter of his Liverpool career will look like, with the Scotland captain explaining that no clear talks have taken place over a new contract.
The left back remains a key figure at Anfield but is entering the final stretch of his current deal, and questions have started to surface about whether the club will move to extend his stay or begin planning for change in that position.
Speaking while on international duty, Robertson was asked directly about his future and whether he expects to remain on Merseyside long-term. The 30-year-old did not offer any firm hints, instead stressing that his focus is on playing and that contract matters are handled by others.
“I’m not really sure,” Robertson said when pressed on what comes next. “There’s been nothing really said. I’m just concentrating on playing football.”
Robertson added that, as far as he is concerned, there is no immediate pressure to resolve anything. He indicated that he is happy with his role at Liverpool and still feels in a good place physically, but acknowledged that these situations are largely out of a player’s control once clubs begin making longer-term decisions.
“I’ve got another year left,” he noted. “It’s not something I’ve thought about too much. I let people deal with that. I just try and play as well as I can.”
Robertson has been at Liverpool since joining from Hull City in 2017 and has built a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most reliable full backs. He has won every major trophy available during his time at the club, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup, and remains one of the leaders in the dressing room.
However, Liverpool’s squad is beginning to change as the club looks toward the next cycle, and full back is one of several areas that could be refreshed over the coming windows. Robertson has faced more competition and rotation in recent seasons, while injuries have also disrupted his rhythm at different points.
For now, the defender insisted he is not looking too far ahead. He made clear that he is committed to giving his best whenever he plays and believes performance is the strongest message he can send to the club.
“All I can do is focus on what I can control,” Robertson said. “That’s playing football, working hard, and trying to help the team.”
Liverpool are expected to review a number of contract situations as they head into another important summer, and Robertson’s comments suggest clarity on his own future may still be some way off.
