Ibrahim Adel has issued an apology to the Egyptian public after the U-20 national team’s painful exit against Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Egyptian winger addressed fans following the shock result, admitting the squad fell short of expectations and did not deliver what supporters wanted in the tournament.
Adel’s message came in the wake of the defeat to Senegal, which ended Egypt’s campaign and left players facing heavy criticism from fans.
In his remarks, Adel asked Egyptians for forgiveness, stressing that everyone in the group fought to make the people happy, but the outcome did not match the effort or the ambitions of the team.
He also underlined that the players were determined to keep pushing until the end, yet the performance was not enough to avoid the disappointment that followed the Senegal game.
