Andres Iniesta has backed Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal to become “one of the greatest”, insisting the winger has already shown the qualities needed to reach the very top.
The former Barca captain, who spent his best years at Camp Nou and won everything with club and country, said Yamal’s impact at such a young age is a clear sign of his potential. Iniesta pointed to the forward’s personality on the ball and the way he handles the pressure that comes with playing for Barcelona.
Iniesta also opened up on his own future away from the pitch, revealing he would like to move into coaching. He explained that management is something he is thinking about seriously, as he looks for the next challenge after his playing career.
Yamal has been one of the standout stories at Barcelona, forcing his way into the first team and quickly becoming a key option in attack. Iniesta believes that if he continues on his current path, he can reach the very highest level.
While praising the youngster, Iniesta stressed the importance of patience and continuity, noting that the next steps in Yamal’s development will be crucial. The Barca legend said the winger must keep working and learning, but made it clear he sees the ingredients for a future star.
