James McClean has said he has only one regret after cutting ties with Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
The winger, who joined Wrexham in the summer of 2023, quickly became part of the club’s rise under the Hollywood owners, with the Welsh side’s story followed closely around the world. Wrexham’s growing profile has also led some to label the club “Disney FC”, a tag McClean has addressed while speaking about his time working under Reynolds and McElhenney.
McClean described the co-owners as “incredible” and spoke warmly about the experience of being around them and the project they have built at the Racecourse Ground.
However, the 35-year-old admitted his only regret is that he did not take more opportunities to speak to Reynolds and McElhenney while he was at the club, revealing he sometimes chose to leave them alone rather than strike up longer conversations.
McClean’s comments offer another glimpse into how hands-on the Wrexham owners have been since their takeover, and how players have felt the impact of the spotlight that now follows the club.
While his time at Wrexham has moved on, McClean made clear there is no bad feeling, stressing his respect for Reynolds and McElhenney and the work they have done behind the scenes.
