Jamie Carragher has come to the defence of Raheem Sterling, describing the forward as “underrated” and insisting he still has plenty to offer at the top level.
The former Liverpool defender believes Sterling’s career in English football deserves more respect, pointing to what he has achieved in the Premier League and the impact he has made at elite clubs.
Carragher also backed the ex-Manchester City and Chelsea winger to finish his story in the right way, suggesting a “fitting finale” is still there for Sterling despite the criticism that has followed him in recent seasons.
The comments arrive at a time when Sterling’s future and form continue to be debated, with Carragher making it clear he feels the winger’s quality and record should not be overlooked.
