La Liga 2025-2026 standings revealed

Barcelona have stormed to the top of the La Liga 2025-2026 table after a dominant start to the season, leaving rivals Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid trailing in the early standings.

The Catalan giants sit in first place with 12 points from their opening four matches, having won all four games. Their perfect record includes a 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao and a 2-1 win against Sevilla, showcasing both attacking flair and defensive solidity.

Real Madrid currently occupy second place with 10 points, following three wins and one draw. Carlo Ancelotti’s side dropped points in a 1-1 stalemate with Real Sociedad but bounced back with a convincing 4-1 triumph over Espanyol.

Atletico Madrid sit third with 9 points, having won three of their first four fixtures. Diego Simeone’s men suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to Valencia in matchday three but responded with a gritty 1-0 victory over Villarreal.

Girona have emerged as early season surprise packages, sitting fourth with 8 points. Michel’s side have impressed with their fluid attacking football, including a 3-2 win over Real Betis and a 2-0 victory against Osasuna.

Real Sociedad round out the top five with 7 points, while Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal share 6 points each in sixth and seventh respectively.

At the bottom of the table, Las Palmas remain winless and sit in 20th place with just 1 point. Alaves and Getafe occupy 19th and 18th positions with 2 points each, already facing an uphill battle to avoid relegation.

The 2025-2026 La Liga season kicked off on August 15, 2025, and will run until May 24, 2026. The campaign features 20 teams competing across 38 matchdays, with the top four securing Champions League qualification and the bottom three facing relegation to the Segunda Division.

Barcelona’s early form has sent a clear message to their title rivals, but with 34 games still remaining, the race for the Spanish crown remains wide open.
