Louis Saha believes Manchester United could tempt Vinicius Junior away from Real Madrid if Michael Carrick is handed the job on a permanent basis.
Carrick stepped into the dugout as interim manager following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure, with United turning to the former midfielder to steady the team while the club weighs up its next move.
Saha, speaking about the current situation at Old Trafford, suggested the draw of a fresh start under Carrick could make United an attractive option for elite talent, including Vinicius.
“If Carrick stays as a manager, he will give them that attraction,” Saha said. “If you want to attract players like Vinicius Junior, those players will want to come and play for someone like that.”
Saha also pointed to Carrick’s standing at the club and his knowledge of what is required at the top level, arguing that it could help United rebuild and compete again.
Vinicius, meanwhile, remains a key figure for Real Madrid, where he has developed into one of Europe’s most exciting forwards. But Saha feels United’s appeal could grow quickly if Carrick is trusted with the role rather than treated as a short-term fix.
United are continuing their search for a long-term solution in the managerial post, with Carrick tasked with guiding results in the meantime as the club looks to settle a turbulent period on and off the pitch.
