The family of Maddy Cusack have accused Sheffield United of causing an “unacceptable” delay to the inquest into her death.

Cusack, who was 27, died in September 2023. Sheffield United described her at the time as “a hugely popular member of the Sheffield United family”, while the club and women’s team paid tributes following the news.

Now, her family have said the legal process has been held up and have pointed the finger at the club. They believe the inquest has not moved forward as it should and have called the situation “unacceptable”.

It has also been revealed that Cusack’s family have raised concerns about the time it has taken for matters to be progressed, with the delay becoming a central issue in their public complaint.

Sheffield United have been contacted for comment.
