Mazraoui does not rule out penalty shootouts against Tanzania

Moroccan players compete intensely during a match, with a player in a white kit evading an opposing player in orange.

Morocco international Noussair Mazraoui said he is prepared for a long night when the Atlas Lions face Tanzania, insisting the team cannot dismiss the idea of the match being decided by a penalty shootout.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming tie, the full-back stressed that knockout football leaves no room for early celebrations, even when Morocco go in as favourites.

“Nothing is impossible in these matches,” Mazraoui said, making it clear that Morocco must be ready for every scenario, including extra time and penalties.

The Bayern Munich player pointed out that Tanzania are capable of making the game difficult, especially if the match stays tight for long periods. He added that Morocco’s players have to remain patient, stay focused, and avoid costly mistakes.

Mazraoui also explained that preparation has included work on set situations at the end of games, describing penalties as a key detail that can decide the outcome when margins are small.

Morocco will enter the match aiming to finish the job within 90 minutes, but Mazraoui’s message was clear: the team is not taking anything for granted, and a shootout remains a real possibility against Tanzania.
