Nigeria coach reveals plan to beat Morocco

Nigeria's football coach in a green and navy jacket, observing training with focus, set against a blurred stadium background.

Eric Chelle has revealed how Nigeria plan to approach their next match against Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The Super Eagles coach says his team will not change their style, but will focus on a clear plan to stop Morocco’s strengths.

Nigeria booked their place in the semi-finals after a 1-0 win over Senegal. The decisive moment came in the 52nd minute, when defender Semi Ajayi headed in the only goal of the game.

Now Nigeria face a major test against Morocco, who have impressed at the tournament. Chelle admitted the opponent will demand a strong performance, but insisted Nigeria are ready for the challenge.

“We will play our football,” Chelle said. “But we also have a plan against Morocco. We have to be disciplined and organised, because they are a very good team.”

The coach added that Nigeria’s focus will be on staying compact and limiting space, while still looking for chances when they have the ball. He made it clear that his side will prepare in detail for Morocco’s key players and the way they attack.

The semi-final will decide who reaches the final of AFCON 2025, with Nigeria aiming to continue their run after edging Senegal and Morocco looking to keep their momentum going.
