Nigeria star says Algeria players were afraid

Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has said Algeria’s players looked “afraid” during their meeting, after recalling the physical battle between the two sides.

Speaking about the clash, Ndidi explained that Nigeria’s strong approach played a key role in how the game unfolded, insisting Algeria struggled to match the intensity. “They were afraid,” he said, as he described the tense moments and the duels on the pitch.

Ndidi stressed that Nigeria’s players felt they had the edge in strength and aggression, and that this became clear as the match went on. He added that his team stayed focused on winning challenges and imposing themselves, which, in his view, affected Algeria’s confidence.

The Nigeria international’s comments come as a fresh reminder of the rivalry between the two nations, with Ndidi highlighting the mental side of these big fixtures as much as the technical qualities.
