A Nigerian billionaire has promised a huge bonus to the Super Eagles if they beat Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The pledge was revealed ahead of the quarter-final, with Nigeria set to face Morocco in what is expected to be one of the tournament’s biggest ties.

The businessman has told players and staff that a major financial reward will be paid if Nigeria manage to eliminate Morocco and move one step closer to the AFCON title.

Nigeria reached the last eight after coming through the group stage strongly and then winning their round-of-16 match. Morocco also booked their place in the quarter-finals after progressing from their group and then getting through their last-16 fixture.

The bonus offer has added extra spice to a match that already carries plenty of pressure, with Morocco viewed as one of the favourites and Nigeria chasing another continental crown.

Nigeria’s camp has not reported any official change in preparations, with the focus still on the game plan and staying disciplined against a Morocco side that has been solid throughout the competition.

The quarter-final will decide who goes into the semi-finals, with the Nigerian squad now having a fresh incentive as they prepare for the showdown with Morocco.
