Petkovic explains Amoura role, demands ruthlessness v Nigeria

Algeria head coach Vladimir Petkovic explained his use of Mohamed Amoura and called on his players to show more ruthlessness when they face Nigeria in their next friendly.

Petkovic said Amoura’s position depends on the needs of the game and the balance of the team, stressing that the forward can play in more than one role. The coach pointed to Amoura’s ability to offer solutions with his movement and speed, and made clear that the important point is how the team functions as a unit, not where one player starts on the pitch.

The Algeria boss also focused on the finishing side of his team’s performance, insisting they must be sharper in front of goal and more decisive in key moments. He asked for a stronger edge in both duels and transitions, and said he wants to see a more aggressive approach as Algeria prepare for the Nigeria test.

Petkovic added that friendlies are part of the preparation process, but stressed that the next match demands full focus and a higher level of intensity. He underlined that the staff are looking for improvements game by game, especially in the final third, as Algeria build consistency ahead of their upcoming challenges.
