Ryan Reynolds has admitted that owning Wrexham has brought some “confounding” problems as he marked five years since he and Rob McElhenney completed their takeover of the Welsh club.
Reynolds shared an emotional message to McElhenney to celebrate the anniversary of their ownership, reflecting on how much has changed since they first arrived and the challenges they have had to learn to live with along the way.
In his note, Reynolds described the experience as overwhelming at times, pointing to the unexpected issues that come with running a football club, even with the success Wrexham have enjoyed since the takeover.
He also used the moment to thank McElhenney for the partnership, underlining the bond they have built through the project and the commitment they have both shown to the club and its supporters.
What was revealed: Reynolds’ message confirmed the pair are now five years into their Wrexham ownership, a milestone he chose to mark publicly with a direct tribute to McElhenney.
Wrexham have been transformed on and off the pitch since Reynolds and McElhenney took charge, and Reynolds’ comments offered a reminder that, behind the celebrations, the day-to-day realities of ownership can still be complicated.
