The Senegal national team delegation took an unusual step on Friday, a day before the final, by leaving the team hotel straight after Friday prayers to visit the country’s president, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
A video showed head coach Aliou Cisse leading the group as they arrived to meet the president, in a move described as unprecedented on the eve of a major final.
The visit came before Senegal’s decisive match, with the team seeking to complete its mission in the tournament.
