Strasbourg supporters have hit out at what they described as “humiliating subservience to Chelsea” after Liam Rosenior’s exit, warning that the “future of French football” is at stake.
The Strasbourg supporters’ federation published a statement in the wake of Rosenior’s departure, pointing the finger at the club’s ownership model and the growing influence of Chelsea within the BlueCo project. The group said the situation at Strasbourg has become unacceptable and claimed the club is being treated as a secondary asset.
In their message, the supporters’ federation accused the decision-makers of prioritising Chelsea’s interests, and argued that Strasbourg’s sporting direction has been shaped to serve another club. They described the relationship as damaging for Strasbourg’s identity and said the wider consequences go beyond one coaching change.
The statement also underlined that frustrations have been building among fans and insisted that Strasbourg must not be reduced to a feeder structure. The federation said the current approach risks weakening the credibility of competition and raises serious questions about the integrity and independence of French clubs.
Rosenior’s exit has become the flashpoint, with supporters framing it as another sign Strasbourg’s project is being dictated by outside needs rather than the club’s own long-term plan. The federation called for respect for Strasbourg and demanded clarity over the club’s future direction.
The supporters concluded by stressing that their concerns are about more than just Strasbourg, insisting that the “future of French football” is at stake if clubs are allowed to operate under what they see as imbalanced multi-club control.
