Tanzanian fans repeat Gulf Arab fans’ mistake in Africa Cup qualifiers

Tanzanian fans have repeated the same mistake made by Gulf Arab supporters during the FIFA Arab Cup, after many of them celebrated as if qualification had already been secured, despite the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers still not being decided.

On Tanzanian social media, several posts and reactions appeared treating the national team’s path as finished, with talk centered on “guaranteed qualification” and early celebrations following the recent positive results in the group.

The scene brought back memories of what happened with some Gulf Arab fans in the Arab Cup, when confidence turned into premature celebrations before the decisive matches were played, only for the final outcome to prove that nothing is settled until the last round.

The reality is that qualification in Africa Cup qualifiers remains tied to points, goal difference and the remaining fixtures, meaning one match can change everything. For that reason, voices close to the team have called for calm and focus, stressing that the players still need full support in the final steps rather than early celebrations.

With the last rounds still to come, the message is clear: the ticket is not confirmed until it is officially secured on the pitch.
