Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” issued an apology to Egyptian fans after the national team’s exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
Egypt were knocked out in the round of 16 following a penalty shootout defeat to DR Congo, after the match finished 1-1 in normal time.
Speaking after the game, Trezeguet said: “We apologise to the Egyptian fans.”
The winger stressed that the squad will not let the disappointment define their tournament, adding: “We will fight to win the bronze medal.”
