Villarreal have confirmed the signing of USMNT right back Alex Freeman from Orlando City on a six-year contract.
The 20-year-old joins the La Liga club after coming through Orlando City’s academy and breaking into the first team in MLS. Villarreal announced the deal on Tuesday, with Freeman putting pen to paper on an agreement that runs until 2030.
Freeman leaves Orlando after establishing himself as a regular option on the right side, earning recognition with the United States setup along the way. The move marks a major step in his career as he heads to Spain to continue his development.
Villarreal have moved early to secure the defender long term, adding him as they plan for the new season. Freeman now becomes the latest American to make the switch to La Liga, with Villarreal confirming he will link up with the club following his MLS spell at Orlando City.
