Tanzania head coach Hemed “Morocco” Suleiman did not hide his anger after his team’s match against Morocco, as he launched a strong protest over what he described as unfair treatment.
Suleiman’s reaction came after the final whistle, when he criticised the match officials and the overall handling of the game, insisting that his side did not receive the same decisions as their opponents.
He said: “We played against Morocco and against other things too… the refereeing decisions were not balanced.”
The Tanzania coach pointed to several moments in the match that, in his view, changed the course of the contest, stressing that his players were prepared and fought hard, but felt they were punished for similar challenges that went unpunished at the other end.
Suleiman added that his team is still learning at this level and wants to compete on equal terms, but warned that repeated situations like this make it difficult for smaller teams to get what they deserve on the pitch.
What was revealed after the game is that his غضب was mainly linked to specific refereeing calls during the Morocco match, which he believes went consistently against Tanzania and affected the outcome.
