Former Egypt star Mohamed Abou Trika has hit out at South Africa head coach Hugo Broos, describing him as “arrogant” after his comments about Morocco.

Speaking during a TV analysis segment, Abou Trika said he had hoped Broos would be knocked out after what he saw as an unacceptable attack on Morocco. “I wished the ‘arrogant’ Broos would go out after his attack on Morocco,” Abou Trika said.

His remarks came after Broos’ recent clash in words with Morocco, which sparked wide reaction across the football scene.

Abou Trika also revealed that Broos’ tone and public statements were the main reason behind his strong stance, stressing that such talk does not fit the respect between African teams and their supporters.
