Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song has fired the first shot at Morocco ahead of their heavyweight clash at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking in the build-up to the match, Song made it clear that Cameroon are not going to play the role of underdog, stressing that his team is coming to win and will not be impressed by Morocco’s status or reputation.
“We respect Morocco, but we are not afraid,” Song said as the tension starts to rise before one of the most anticipated fixtures of the tournament.
The Cameroon boss also underlined that his players know what is at stake and are ready for a battle, pointing out that matches at this stage are decided by small details and mentality rather than names on paper.
Morocco arrive with high expectations, while Cameroon, champions of Africa five times, are aiming to show they can still compete with the continent’s best in a direct duel.
Song’s comments set the tone for what promises to be a hard, emotional contest, with both teams looking to make a statement at the Africa Cup of Nations.
