Algeria have escalated their refereeing dispute by submitting an official complaint to FIFA, in response to what they described as “bias and assaults” during their recent match.
The Algerian Football Federation confirmed that it has filed a formal report with world football’s governing body, insisting the case goes beyond technical errors and includes serious incidents surrounding the officiating.
In its statement, Algeria pointed to what it believes were clear refereeing decisions that went against the national team, saying those calls had a direct impact on the course of the game and its outcome.
The federation also said there were “assaults” linked to the same affair, stressing that the situation cannot be treated as a normal refereeing controversy and requires firm action at the highest level.
Algeria’s move to FIFA comes as the debate continues over the match, with the federation underlining that it is seeking to protect its rights through official channels rather than public arguments.
The complaint has now been lodged with FIFA, and Algeria are waiting for a response as they push for the matter to be reviewed and addressed through the relevant disciplinary and refereeing bodies.
