Arsenal hire new throw-in coach who worked at Liverpool

Mikel Arteta, in a dark coat, passionately instructs his team on the sideline, exhaling visible breath in the chilly atmosphere.

Arsenal have made a new addition to Mikel Arteta’s backroom staff by appointing a specialist throw-in coach, adding another set-piece focus to the club’s preparations.

The Premier League side have hired Thomas Grønnemark, who previously worked at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp. The Dane is known for his expertise in improving throw-ins, both in terms of retention and turning restarts into attacking opportunities.

Grønnemark built his reputation through years of research and coaching work and spent time at Anfield during Klopp’s reign, where he was brought in as a throw-in specialist. Now he is set to take on a similar role in north London as Arsenal look for further marginal gains.

The move underlines Arteta’s continued emphasis on fine details and set-piece efficiency. Arsenal have already put major work into dead-ball situations in recent seasons, and the arrival of a dedicated throw-in coach shows the club are keen to push those gains even further.

The appointment has been presented as another example of Arsenal seeking small improvements that can make a difference over a long campaign, with throw-ins increasingly viewed as a key moment to control games and create chances.
