Enzo Fernandez has revealed he took inspiration from Chelsea great Frank Lampard as he looks to add more goals to his game, but the Argentina midfielder insists he does not like being compared to the club legend.
Fernandez has seen his goal output improve and admits Lampard is an “idol” for him, pointing to the former Blues captain as a player he watched closely and learned from while growing up.
The 23-year-old says he has tried to study how Lampard timed his runs into the box and how he arrived in the right areas to score, using that as motivation to become more decisive in the final third for Chelsea.
But despite acknowledging Lampard as an inspiration, Fernandez stressed he would rather avoid direct comparisons, making it clear he wants to build his own identity at Stamford Bridge.
