Morocco is pushing ahead with plans for a huge new stadium that could stage the World Cup final. The country is aiming for a venue with 115,000 seats, a scale that would make it one of the biggest football arenas in the world.
The plan is linked to Morocco’s role as co-host of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, alongside Spain and Portugal. With that tournament on the horizon, Morocco wants to strengthen its case to host the biggest match of all: the final.
What has been revealed is the intended capacity of the stadium: 115,000. The project is being presented as a flagship venue for the tournament, designed to meet the demands of a World Cup final and the wider event.
Morocco has already invested heavily in football infrastructure in recent years, and this proposed mega stadium would be the most striking sign yet of its ambitions for 2030.
If the plan is completed as intended, the stadium would place Morocco in direct competition with the biggest venues in Europe when FIFA decides where the final will be played.
