Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has responded to Brahim Diaz’s missed penalty, after the Real Madrid midfielder failed to convert from the spot during the national team’s latest match.
Regragui made it clear that he is not putting the blame on Diaz for the miss, stressing that penalties can happen to any player and that responsibility is shared by the team.
The Morocco coach also pointed to the bigger picture, saying the most important thing is the overall performance and the final result, not one moment from 12 yards.
Diaz, who has been one of the most talked-about names since choosing to represent Morocco, could not take his chance when he stepped up, but he remained involved as Morocco continued their game plan.
Regragui’s reaction underlined his support for the player, and a message that Diaz keeps the staff’s confidence despite the missed penalty.
