Senegal TV rules out AFCON title being stripped from Lions

Tense moment between Moroccan and Senegalese players, with Ibrahim (10) and El Aynaoui (24) in focus during a competitive match.

Senegalese television has ruled out claims that the Africa Cup of Nations title could be stripped from Senegal, insisting the trophy will remain with the “Lions of Teranga”.

In a segment shared in a video, the broadcaster dismissed what has been circulating in recent days, saying there is no official decision or legal basis that would lead to Senegal losing the continental crown.

The report stressed that the stories being promoted are not supported by any confirmed statement from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and that the discussions online do not change the reality of Senegal’s triumph.

Senegal won the AFCON after beating Egypt on penalties in the final, and the TV report made it clear that this result stands, with no indication of any move to overturn it.

The broadcaster urged fans to rely on verified information and official announcements, rather than rumours spreading on social media.
