De Zerbi questions Marseille mindset after PSG defeat

Roberto De Zerbi admitted Marseille were left in “total despair” after being outclassed by Paris Saint-Germain in Le Classique, and questioned the mentality of Mason Greenwood and his team-mates following the heavy defeat.

Marseille travelled to Paris hoping to compete with the champions, but PSG took control and never let go, leaving De Zerbi frustrated with both the performance and the response of his side as the match slipped away.

Speaking after the game, De Zerbi did not hide his disappointment and made it clear the issue went beyond tactics. He said there was “total despair” in the dressing room and stressed that mindset was the key problem, pointing to Greenwood and the rest of the squad as he demanded a stronger reaction in big matches.

De Zerbi insisted Marseille cannot afford to approach games like this without the right edge, especially in a fixture of this size, and warned that the team must show more personality when things start going against them.

The Marseille coach also revealed he had raised the issue directly with his players, making it clear that he expects a different attitude and improved accountability as they look to respond in their next outings.
