Morocco’s 1986 World Cup legend has warned that the upcoming meeting with Tanzania will be anything but straightforward, describing it as a “tricky” and “booby-trapped” match despite the difference on paper.
The former international stressed that Tanzania should not be judged by names or rankings, noting that games of this type often come with unexpected details and can turn on small moments. He explained that Morocco will need a full-performance display, not just flashes of quality, to avoid any surprises.
He pointed out that Tanzania have shown they can be disciplined and hard to break down, especially when they set up to close spaces and play on transitions. For that reason, he believes patience will be essential, along with moving the ball quickly and using the wings to open gaps.
The Morocco legend also underlined the importance of focus from the first minute, warning that conceding early or making individual mistakes could complicate the task. He added that the players must keep their concentration high, manage the rhythm of the game, and avoid giving the opponents easy confidence.
He revealed that matches against teams with nothing to lose can be the most dangerous, because the pressure sits entirely on the favourites. In his view, Morocco have the tools to win, but only if they treat the contest with full respect and the right mindset.
Closing his remarks, he called on the national team to approach the Tanzania game with seriousness and intensity, insisting that qualification targets are built on handling these demanding fixtures, not only the big-name clashes.
