The best-paid national team coach in Africa is not Walid Regragui. A new ranking has revealed that Algeria boss Vladimir Petkovic is currently the highest earner on the continent.
Petkovic, who took charge of Algeria in 2024, reportedly earns around 135,000 euros per month. That figure puts him ahead of several big names managing African national teams, including Morocco’s Regragui.
Regragui, who led Morocco to a historic run at the 2022 World Cup, is often mentioned among the best-known coaches in Africa. But despite his profile, he does not top the salary list.
According to the revealed figures, Petkovic sits above Senegal coach Aliou Cissé and Ivory Coast boss Emerse Faé in the same overview. The update shines a light on how much some federations are investing in their national teams as qualification campaigns and major tournaments continue to grow in importance.
The ranking underlines that coaching salaries in Africa can vary widely, even among teams with similar ambitions. In this case, it is Algeria’s Petkovic who leads the way financially—not Morocco’s Regragui.
