Pafos boss quizzed on Beckham row after Chelsea loss

Pafos boss Juan Carlos Carcedo was left bemused after being quizzed about David Beckham’s family drama following Chelsea’s Champions League win over AC Milan.

Carcedo, who played alongside Beckham at Real Madrid, was asked about the former England captain’s reported public row with his son, Brooklyn, after Chelsea’s 3-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

Beckham was in attendance for the match as co-owner of Inter Miami, and his presence became a talking point for reasons beyond the football when details emerged of a tense exchange involving Brooklyn in the stands.

During a press conference in Cyprus, Carcedo was questioned on the incident despite it having no link to Pafos or their own campaign, leaving the Spaniard visibly surprised by the line of enquiry.

The Pafos coach made it clear he had no real knowledge of what had happened and stressed he was not in a position to comment on a personal matter involving his former team-mate.

The bizarre moment quickly drew attention online, with Carcedo’s connection to Beckham through their time at the Bernabeu seemingly the only reason the subject was raised.

Beckham, 47, played for Real Madrid between 2003 and 2007, while Carcedo was part of the same squad during that period. Pafos, meanwhile, continue their domestic season in Cyprus under Carcedo’s guidance.
