Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has confirmed that Azzedine Ounahi’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign is over, after the midfielder picked up an injury during the team’s last outing.
Regragui revealed that tests carried out on the player showed he will not be able to continue in the tournament, putting an end to his journey at the AFCON with the national team.
The Morocco coach also explained the nature of Ounahi’s problem, saying the injury is muscular and requires treatment and rest, which makes it impossible for him to be available in the coming days.
Ounahi’s absence is a blow for Morocco as Regragui continues to prepare his squad for the next stage of the competition, with the staff now forced to adjust their options in midfield.
