Saudi Arabia set for Donis debut in America

Saudi Arabia are set for the first appearance of new head coach José Daniel Donis when they take on Venezuela in a friendly match in the United States.

The match is scheduled for Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Inter Miami stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This will be Donis’s first official game in charge of the Green Falcons since his appointment.

Donis, who took over the Saudi national team earlier this year, has been preparing the squad for this fixture during a training camp in the U.S. The camp began on March 22 and includes a second friendly against Bolivia on March 30.

The Saudi Football Federation confirmed that the match against Venezuela will kick off at 8:00 PM local time (3:00 AM Saudi time on March 28). The game is part of the team’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Donis has called up a 26-man squad for the two friendlies, featuring a mix of experienced players and new faces. Key names include Salem Al-Dawsari, Firas Al-Buraikan, and goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais.

The Venezuelan national team, ranked 54th in the world, will provide a tough test for the Saudis, who are ranked 56th. Venezuela are also using this match as preparation for their own World Cup qualifying campaign.

Donis said in a press conference ahead of the match: “We are working hard to implement our ideas. The players have shown great commitment. This game is an important step in our journey.”

The match will be broadcast live on SSC channels in Saudi Arabia and on the federation’s official YouTube channel for international viewers.
