Pep Guardiola has insisted he will not stop speaking out about issues he feels strongly about, after facing criticism for a passionate speech that touched on war and politics.
The Manchester City manager said some people “want me to be silent”, but made it clear he has no intention of changing his approach. Guardiola stressed that he will keep talking when he believes injustice is being ignored, even if it makes others uncomfortable.
Guardiola’s comments come after his recent public remarks sparked debate, with some questioning whether a football coach should be discussing political topics. The City boss pushed back at that idea, explaining that he speaks as a person, not just as a manager.
He also underlined that he is not trying to tell others what to think, but feels he cannot look away when he believes people are suffering. Guardiola’s stance, he said, is driven by conscience rather than any desire for attention.
The Spaniard has previously used his platform to address social issues and has now doubled down, vowing to continue highlighting what he sees as wrongdoing and inequality.
Despite the backlash, Guardiola maintained that staying quiet is not an option for him, repeating that those who want him to stop speaking will not get their way.
