Wrexham tipped to win promotion and stay up in Premier League

Wrexham have been backed to not only reach the Premier League but also to stay there, with a Wales legend offering advice to owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney on what it would take to survive at the top level.

The former international says Wrexham’s rise under Reynolds and McElhenney has shown the club can keep pushing through the divisions, but warned that the step up to the Premier League would demand major work on the squad.

As revealed, the Wales great believes Wrexham would need “seven or eight” new signings for the 2026-27 season to give themselves a realistic chance of remaining in the division if they win promotion.

He stressed that the jump in quality is far bigger than anything Wrexham have faced so far, and that smart recruitment would be crucial if they are to compete week in, week out against established top-flight teams.

Wrexham’s story has already taken them from the National League back into the Football League and beyond, and the club continues to build with a clear plan on and off the pitch. The message from the Wales legend, though, is that survival in the Premier League would hinge on fresh faces arriving in numbers, with “seven or eight” additions seen as the minimum needed.
